Hello Everyone!

I am very excited to share with you the history of my career. I plan on adding LOTS of trivia and answering your questions. I did not realize there was so much content around until my fans made me aware, and thanks to the Internet, this is now possible.

When I was on the “Make Room for Daddy Show,” i.e. “The Danny Thomas Show,” I received bags and bags of fan mail.  Besides working, attending school, and studying my lines, on Saturdays I spent all day personalizing my answers to each letter and posting them. Because that left little time for anything else, I became resentful….Eventually, we hired a teenage girl to help me for it became overwhelming. Now that I am MUCH older, I realize how important it is to appreciate my fans and am going to make up for lost time!!! I loved my fans but my very strict mother made things a “have” to,  not a “want” to. Now I really WANT to!!!! So I am looking forward to this adventure and want this site to be fun and interesting and at times funny . So feel free to ask away…..

Sincerely, (that was my closing on my early fan letters but I misspelled “Sincerly” for many early autographs) lol…Now I prefer “Health, Love and Light. ” Maturation is enlightening…

At least three of Sherry’s movies started out with a different title:

“Trouble Along the Way” began as “Alma Mater” and has some interesting off-screen info. John Wayne and the scriptwriter, Mel Shavelson, reportedly butted heads more than a few times over his lines. One of the reasons that Wayne may have been on edge (though Sherry has said he was wonderful to work with) was that he was in the midst of a nasty divorce. It’s only speculation on my part, but the fact that this movie was filmed right before “Make Room for Daddy” started, and that Shavelson worked with Danny Thomas to come up with a premise for his show, presumably means that Shavelson tipped Thomas off to the cute (and talented) girl in his film–he wrote the pilot film for the show.

“Come Next Spring” was originally entitled, “The Trek” and was hyped as somthing like the John Wayne movie, “The Quiet Man.” Unfortunately, it’s not a clip from the film, but here is the title song (sung by Tony Bennett) that was sung over the opening credits:

“Cotter” originally started out as “The Narrow Chute,” and what’s even stranger is that the movie was filmed in late 1967, but wasn’t released for roughly five years. The fact that this was shot soon after Sherry’s eye-opening performance in “Gunn” probably explains the brief scene of her wearing only a towel. If I recall, Sherry didn’t have too much good to say about this film.

Even “Make Room for Daddy” started out as “Uncle Daddy.”

I’ve never seen ‘This Woman is Dangerous’, but TCM will have it on Mon., 1/30 at 8:45 AM.

Sherry for a split-second on ‘Vegas’ (at 0:49)

‘Ma and Pa Kettle at the Fair’ clip (Sherry at 0:31)

‘The Next Voice You Hear…’ trailer (Sherry at 2:09)

Watched “This Woman is Dangerous” this morning and saw Sherry’s uncredited cameo (about three minutes long and roughly 55 minutes into the film). Once again, she holds her own (as a nine-year-old!) with a screen legend–Joan Crawford–in her all-too-brief appearance.

      1. sherryjackson

        Dear Ben,

Thank you for all your comments!!! Most people don,t even know about me being in that movie!!! Quite an interesting experience on that film …to be working with such a legend!!!

I have not seen that movie in probably 40 years …..I,m glad you liked the performance!

        Love and Light,

    2. sherryjackson

  3. Corbett (aka Dr. Corby)

    Dear Sherry:

I want to start off by saying what a pleasure it is to be speaking to you! God I love the internet!!

The Star Trek episode you guest starred in.. ‘What Are Little Girls Made Of?’ is one of my all-time favorite episodes of Trek. Not only because my nicname is Corby.. (so i get to hear my name alot said by all of you) but your portrayal of Andrea was in my mind the perfect combination of innocence and sensuality. It really was the epitomy of a really classic Star Trek episode..

I have to completely honest… you had to be the absolutely most beautiful female to appear on Trek. You were and still are a stunning beauty and I always loved your soft voice as well. If they were handing out awards for the most beautiful guest to appear on Trek youd win it hands down!!

I noticed you do autographed pictures.. Would it be possible to have one personalized This would be a dream come true for me.. Anyways no rush. Im so glad to have this opportunity after all these years to contact my most favorite and the most beautiful woman to grace the halls at Desilu.

    Yours Sincerely,

    Corbett (aka Dr. Corby)

    1. sherryjackson

      Dear Corbett,

I am blushing..}} such lovely compliments….I would love to autograph a photo for you. Go to Sherry’s shop and there are quite a few to choose from and I will be adding more.

Have a great day ..and check in again soon..

      1. Dr. Corby

        Dear Sherry:

Wow! Thanks so much for replying! Its amazing how few celebrities actually reply to one of their fans! You really made my day!

Thank you so much again, and thanks to the rest of you on here as well for all the informative history on Sherry! It was fascinating to see all your other work outside of Star Trek…

Sherry- i have left my order for you to look over. I can hardly wait to get my autographed picture!! And thank you again for making this possible!!

        Your fan- and friend,

        Dr. Corby :)

Keep up the great work! Have you ever done a Star Trek convention before Sherry? Youd probably be a hit!! Seeing Andrea? I’m sure trejkies everywherr would love seeing you up close in person! :-)

From the 8/27/52 “Lights of New York” column:

“Lunching at Sardi’s with her mother, a newspaperman and a Warner Bros. press agent, Sherry Jackson, 10-year-old movie actress, looking mighty cute in a little apron dress with small red and white checks and short puffed sleeves, her two long, dark braids demurely draped over each shoulder.”

From the 4/13/53 Cleveland Plain Dealer review of “Trouble Along the Way”:

“Perhaps the star of the play is little Sherry Jackson, playing a little girl beyond her years–which is exactly what Sherry is. She is a terrific scene as well as heart-stealer.”

From a 1979 article on Dale Evans (aka Mrs. Roy Rogers)

“Miss Evans is also author of the Sunday school song, “The Bible Tells Me So,” which she wrote for Sherry Jackson as a little girl.

” ‘She’s quite an actress now,” Miss Evans said of Miss Jackson.

    1. sherryjackson

      Dear Ben,

How I love that article!! Along the path of my life, my mother lost many of the article’s and reviews….I remember that dress very well!

My mouth is saying “WOW” ….about Dale Evans…I have always remembered that song but not till now did I know that The Miss Evans wrote that for me…What a treat…

Thank you so much Ben for bringing great memories….You should be an archivist!!

      1. Ben Anderson

Always happy to be of help to such a lovely lady. It’s funny you mention a potential career as an archivist; I have a Master’s degree in History, which is in the same vein, I suppose.

Regarding that background, I would be more than happy to continue doing some research on behalf of your book-FREE OF CHARGE, of course!! It would be an honor, in fact! Please let me know if I can be of any assistance.

        Best wishes,

    2011 interview by Jim Longworth

    Sherry interviews “The Immortal”:

    ‘Wild on the Beach’ trailer:

Excerpt from Sept. 6, 1965 BoxOffice magazine review regarding ‘Wild on the Beach’:
“Excepting ingénue Sherry Jackson, who does well in her non-singing role, none of the leading performers has had any previous acting experience and their fledgling efforts are apparent.”

  6. Clint Johnson

    Hello Sherry,

We have never met, but I have watched, your performances so many times I feel like you are family.

One evening last week I watched Make Room For Daddy, on DVD, and decided to see if I could find you, on the Internet.

Make Room For Daddy was one of my favorite shows when I was young.
Seeing the outstanding photographs, and movie stills from Star Trek, Peter Gunn, and the your numerous other great, performances, really brought back some memories.

I hope you have many more years of enjoyable projects and great opportunities.

    Clint Johnson

P.S. I do have one question are you married?

    1. sherryjackson

      Dear Clint,

So glad you discovered my site and that I have given you pleasure!!!

      Love and Light,

    Next Tuesday night (1/24):

*The Hub Channel is showing the second part of Sherry’s appearance on Batman “The Riddler’s False Notion”–part one (“Death in Slow Motion”) is on Monday night.

*On ME-TV, they’ll be showing Sherry’s appearance on Perry Mason, 1963’s “The Case of the Festive Felon.”

At least on my cable system, the Batman and Perry Mason shows will be opposite each other, so a remote will be a valued necessity. Others may want to check their local listings.

Her guest starring role on The Interns was the first of two times that Sherry played an “exotic dancer.” The other time was her appearance on “Starsky and Hutch.” Of course, in both shows, she looks fantastic.

  15. Ben Anderson

Although it’s a few hours in advance, I’d like to wish Sherry and the board a very Happy New Year.

Sherry’s 1960 appearance on The Millionaire can be seen at the website below. You need to register, but all that involves is giving your e-mail address and picking a password. Thankfully, you receive no spam from the organization. Under episode title, just type in “Susan Johnson”–her character in the program. As always, Sherry gives a standout performance:

Also, SyFy is having their annual Twilight Zone marathon, starting on New Years Eve. Sherry’s performance in “The Last Rites of Jeff Myrtlebank” will be seen Sunday (1/1) morning at 7:30 a.m.

  18. Ben Anderson

One week from today is Christmas Day, and Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will give us a present by showing Sherry’s 1952 movie, “The Miracle of Our Lady of Fatima.” The movie will start at 7:30 A.M., so you might be otherwise occupied (or still sleeping), so get the DVR revved up if that’s the case.
